Do you need support to deliver a quality HPE program at your school?
Did you know ACHPER Victoria can support you and your school in the implementation of your Health and Physical Education (HPE) curriculum? We deliver in-school consultations with Primary and Secondary teachers throughout Victoria, to help build their capacity to facilitate the delivery of quality HPE programs; essential for helping students fulfil their potential.
Members of our PL team have been busy hitting the road this year, working with teachers across the state to deliver workshops, seminars or broader professional learning programs tailored specifically to meet the needs of schools who may need a little refresher, or support with implementing HPE.
Recently, we were at St Francis of the Fields in Strathfieldsaye to deliver a workshop around their F – 6 curriculum structure and teaching FMS and small sided games. Here’s what PE Coordinator, Danielle Dillon had to say about the workshop in which all of the generalist teachers were engaged:
“Annie Kay was the lady who I mainly communicated with and she couldn’t of been more willing to help! She asked all the right questions and was able to tailor the PD to what our school and staff needed. We then had Annie and Bernie with our staff, they gave so many useful ideas and resources, the staff had really positive feedback, and it was mainly around the fact that the content delivered was done so in a really simple, practical and manageable way.
Annie then worked with me to refine our whole school scope and sequence, and really helped me remember the importance of FMS and gave lots of practical ways to incorporate them into PE.
I would highly recommend getting ACHPER Victoria in to work with your staff, they are there to work with us to improve the way Health and PE and is delivered in our schools and they couldn’t be more willing to be of assistance.”
We also paid a visit to Kennington Primary School in Bendigo where we shared resources, advice and more. Of the session, Phys Ed teacher, Jaclyn Mildren said:
“It was fantastic being able to speak to you both with your vast knowledge of the curriculum. I really appreciate the time you gave me today. Thank you again for the Movement and Health posters, they are fantastic. Think we will have to stick them up in our office ASAP!”
