Love the game, not the odds
Collingwood senior coach Nathan Buckley recently spoke with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation about the meaning of success. For Nathan, it’s all about nurturing and developing players and staff.
He also spoke about gambling harm as a societal issue and the importance of seeking help when needed.
Collingwood Football Club is a partner of the Foundation’s Love the game program, which aims to reduce young people’s exposure to sports betting and counter the normalisation of gambling in sport.

Love the Game Sporting Club Program
Love the game partners raise awareness within club communities about the risks and negative consequences associated with gambling. Prolific advertising of sports betting makes it seem like gambling is a normal part of sport. This is a concern because when something feels normal, it doesn’t seem risky.
AFL Victoria, Cricket Victoria, Football Victoria, Melbourne Rebels, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Victory and all 10 Victorian-based elite AFL clubs are Love the Game partners. This means they have made a commitment to say no to sports betting sponsorships.More than 400 local clubs have also joined the program to help reduce the risk of gambling harm in their communities.
