Ideas for teaching VCE literacy, assessment, preparation and heaps more at our 2021 VCE® Conference
There’s just one week to go, so now is the time to register for the upcoming VCE® Conference on 19 February! With an awesome range of presentations planned to cover new and engaging teaching ideas, VCE literacy, assessment, preparation and so much more, sign up for our one-day professional learning event specifically for VCE teachers to help you focus and up-skill in the VCE subject areas across all Units (1-4) of PE, HHD, OES and VET Sport and Recreation.
This is one of our smaller conferences and anyone from any aspect of VCE teaching is invited to attend. We think the best part is, teachers across all subjects can arrange to attend a full day of sessions that meet the needs of their specific subject areas for the day.
For example, if you’re an OES teacher for Session 1 you could book in “UNPACKING LITERACY DEMANDS IN OES UNITS 1–4”, followed by “HOW TO LEARN AN OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT FOR VCE OES 3/4 PE” in Session 2. Session 3’s “CRITICAL AND CREATIVE SACS AND JOURNALS IN OES” might interest you, and to finish off the day, sign up for “DESIGNING LOCAL OES EXPERIENCES”.
The same opportunities are available for PE, HHD and VET Sport and Rec teachers.
We also highly recommend Session B06 “SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENT: PURPOSE AND DEVELOPMENT” for all teachers of VCE. This presentation by VCAA’s Rachael Whittle will help build teachers’ understanding of the purpose of school–based assessment and how this aligns with the development of school–assessed coursework tasks (SAC’s) that meet VCAA’s requirements. Teachers will explore different task types, common misconceptions and look at how the Performance Descriptions can be modified and used to assess students’ level of performance in VCE HHD, OES and PE.
Get started early to build your subject skillset and prepare for year ahead. Important to note, all sessions will be recorded and provided to delegates following the conference so you can continue your learning after the conference. And if you can’t attend in person, you can register to receive session recordings only.
Held at the new state-of-the-art facilities at La Trobe Sports Park, Bundoora this is one conference not to be missed!
