Students light up the court at ‘Come and Try’ days

After a year on the sidelines, Tennis Victoria, alongside local coaches, were delighted to run a series of Come and Try days for 270 secondary school students from 21 specialist schools around Melbourne.
The kids were put through their paces with a series of engaging and fun activities, from team building challenges to match play!
The program first launched in 2019 and was made possible by funding from the Movement Disorder Foundation (MDF).
The focus of these programs is to provide a rewarding tennis experience for students and teachers at specialist and hard of hearing schools, where they get to build on their physical literacy and make new friends. Tennis Australia strives to create sustainable partnerships between schools, clubs and coaches whilst removing perceived barriers to participation and engagement.
Post the ‘Come and Try’ days, many were asking how their school could experience this again. There are several opportunities for special schools or schools with intellectually disabled students to get involved with the MDF program.
