Active Schools update: Spotlight on Rosebud Secondary College

La Trobe Sports Stadium came alive with energy on 4 September 2024 when over 130 students from two local schools participated in an exciting National HPE Day activation event designed to promote health and physical education (HPE).
The event, organised by ACHPER Victoria and supported by La Trobe Sports, aimed to inspire students to embrace an active lifestyle and experience a range of activities available in their local community.
From the moment they arrived, students were immersed in a whirlwind of skills challenges and warm-ups led by ACHPER Victoria’s Professional Excellence team. The day featured a range of skill-building exercises and sporting activities, ensuring that every student had the opportunity to showcase their talents and learn new skills.
In addition to ACHPER Victoria, staff from the La Trobe Sport Programs team, La Trobe School of Education, Rugby Victoria, AFL Victoria, and Football Victoria contributed their expertise, providing students with a diverse array of movement experiences. A huge thank you to the staff and organisations for providing these opportunities for students and teachers in the area.
The collaborative efforts of these organisations resulted in a range of movement opportunities for students, who were also able to develop a deeper understanding of the significance of health and physical education in their lives.
This HPE Day 2024 student activation event highlights the importance of HPE Day in promoting active living among young people. ACHPER Victoria looks forward to continuing its mission of fostering a love for physical education and supporting schools in their efforts to inspire the next generation of active individuals.
Events such as HPE Day and the Biomechanics Day run collaboratively with Dr Stuart Evans on 26 July at La Trobe University (LTU) allow us to capitalise on the strengths of the partnership between our organisations. We greatly value the opportunities LTU provide to our community through their amazing facilities, educational programs and tertiary study opportunities.
