FREE implementation workshops for VCE® OES

In collaboration with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), we’re pleased to be offering a series of FREE workshops in Term 3.

This face-to-face workshop series is the final step of professional learning associated with the revised VCE® Outdoor and Environmental Studies (OES) study design, collaboratively facilitated by ACHPER Victoria, the VCAA and subject specialists involved in the review process.

These workshops will build upon the on-demand videos, live webinars and support materials made accessible by the VCAA from June 2023.

It is assumed teachers attending will have accessed these resources prior to the workshops so they can make full benefit of the opportunity to connect with other colleagues and to explore teaching, learning and assessment ideas for the revised study design.

Session objectives

• to discuss potential outdoor environments and outdoor experiences which could be explored within their region to implement the revised study design
• to share ideas on how the key changes within the revised study design could be addressed through a teaching and learning program with reference to the VCAA support materials, and
• to provide the opportunity to ask questions to strengthen teachers’ understanding of the revised study design.

‘What’s new videos’ – introducing the key changes
Five short videos (~15 mins each) are now available to provide a snapshot of the key changes across the study. These videos are purposefully produced to act as the first phase of our PL implementation program and lead into the webinars and workshop offerings. Available within the ‘2024 implementation’ tab mentioned above.

Webinars – unpacking the changes at Unit ½ and Unit ¾

Registrations are now open for two webinars designed to delve into the changes in more depth and make connections with the shortly to be published support materials. Both sessions will be presented as a collaboration between the VCAA and teachers who have been involved in the revision process. Register here >>

Support materials

These are still on track to be published prior to the end of Term 2 and will include suggested sample timelines, resources, learning activities and assessment for each unit.
