Life Saving Victoria swimming and water safety activities and updates for Term 3 and 4

Save the date! Life Saving Victoria (LSV)’s Swimming and Water Safety Team invites Victorian primary school teachers and aquatic facility representatives to a FREE day of fascinating speakers and interactive sessions which will ramp up your school swimming and water safety program and help you prepare for a mind-blowing Water Safety Week (2-6 December)!

The ‘Water Safety Week and Beyond’ event on Wednesday 4 September will offer multiple electives throughout the day presented by practicing teachers and industry professionals that will spark new ideas to plan for Water Safety Week, whilst inspiring cross curricular approaches for delivering the Swimming and Water Safety component of the Victorian Curriculum. Participants will also receive great prizes and giveaways.

Don’t forget to check out the suite of free Professional Development opportunities throughout Term 3 that can be found on the Events Page of their Swimming and Water Safety Toolkit, including engaging CALD students in swimming and water safety, Facebook Live sessions with school aquatics experts and updates on the Victorian Water Safety Certificate.

Prefer something more specific? The team at LSV are available to deliver free tailored Professional Development (PD) workshops at your next school and / or aquatic staff / network meeting or online.

Also, don’t forget the Victorian Curriculum requires students to demonstrate the competencies of the Victorian Water Safety Certificate by the time they leave Year 6, so make sure your students receive theirs before the end of the year.

Contact schoolswimming@lsv.com.au to book a session and they can help you design an engaging program for your Term 3 and 4 swimming and water safety lessons.
