HomeCourtTennis: Supporting all Victorian schools and their communities

HomeCourtTennis is a new initiative designed by Tennis to support teachers with delivery of physical education and sport to students either at school or via remote learning.

The initiative is designed to be flexible in its approach, with teachers selecting games and activities which appeal to the desired outcomes of the health and physical education curriculum.

The content also allows for inclusion and student choice where games and activities can be modified to suit their individual needs.

The elements associated with HomeCourtTennis include:

  • Games-making
  • Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS)
  • Technical and Tactical (Tec and Tac)
  • Physical Activity and Fitness
  • Off-court activities

The various elements are designed to stimulate creativity, problem solving, imagination and movement in children. The elements can be used in a liner and progressive approach or as individual units of work.

In its design, HomeCourtTennis appeals to encouraging students to think differently, with where, and with what, they can use to play a game of tennis (the rally) in their available environment.

  • A tennis court – grass marked out in the backyard, tiles in the kitchen or a basketball court at school
  • A tennis racquet – rolled up newspaper or a paddle bat
  • A tennis ball – balloon or a soft foam ball
  • A net – skipping rope tied up between two trees or a line on the ground

As term 3 commences and schools are in varying situations depending upon their circumstances, Tennis is here to support your school community with resources during this unprecedented time. The teaching resources can be accessed free of charge through the online learning platform Bounce.

To access visit bounce.tennis.com.au and create an account if you are not already registered. Alternatively contact your local School Development Coordinator or email schools@tennis.com.au.
