Why this matters

Active Classrooms are learning environments where movement is intentionally integrated into teaching and learning. This includes active breaks, movement-based learning and flexible learning spaces that encourage students to move regularly throughout the day.

Better Focus

Students are more attentive and ready to learn.

Improved wellbeing

Regular movement supports physical, mental and social wellbeing.

Enhanced learning

Movement improves engagement, on-task behaviour and academic outcomes.

Top 3 actions to get started

Start with simple strategies that teachers can trial immediately and build on over time.

1. Introduce regular active breaks throughout the school day.

2. Trial active learning strategies across different curriculum areas.

3. Share practical Active Classroom strategies at team meetings or Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
